We are seeking a skilled Senior Project Manager (m/f/d) to lead the planning and delivery of IT projects and programmes, ensuring alignment with business goals, budgets, and timelines. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and a deep understanding of IT project governance.
The likely project size will be up to £500k. Programme size will be over £500k.

Primary Responsibilities
Project Delivery:
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of IT projects & programmes within agreed time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Produce and maintain project and programmes documentation (PID, plans, etc.) aligned with PMO standards.
  • Manage project and programmes scope, timelines, milestones, budgets, risks, and dependencies.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement and facilitate Project and Programme Board meetings.
  • Work with Ops and Architecture functions to present project solutions at Technical Design Authority
  • Oversee requirements gathering phase pre-project, solution development, testing, implementation, and transition into operational support.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and ensure formal project closure and acceptance.
Financial & Resource Management:
  • Prepare and manage CAPEX budget proposals and track actual vs. forecasted spend.
  • Estimate and allocate project resources effectively.
  • Monitor third-party and business/user dependencies.
Governance & Reporting:
  • Report status, forecasts, and changes according to PMO processes.
  • Manage change requests and escalate risks and issues where necessary.
  • Contribute to improving project governance frameworks.
Team Leadership:
  • Line-manage junior PMs; mentor and support team development.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure strong team collaboration.
  • Conduct PDPs and onboard new team members.
Business Impact & Communication:
  • Build strong relationships across departments to ensure business alignment.
  • Support benefit realisation in collaboration with process owners.
  • Translate technical developments into business language and guide project selection and prioritisation.
Problem Solving & Decision-Making:
  • Navigate complex project environments with multiple dependencies and stakeholders.
  • Apply sound judgment in managing risk, uncertainty, and competing priorities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives across geographies and business units.
Required skills and qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Project & Programme Management.
  • Proficiency in APM, PMI, or equivalent methodologies.
  • Tools: Microsoft Office, MS Project, Smartsheet.
  • Experience with Agile (e.g., Scrum, SAFe), Waterfall, and TDD (test Driven development) methodologies.
  • ITIL or Microsoft Operations Framework knowledge (desirable).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Written and oral fluency in English, German (Level C1)
Travel
Travel is expected and may occasionally occur for educational/career development purposes.
